scrunchScrunching your hair can be a fun new way to create volume. Scrunching is the best method for wavy, voluminous strands while avoiding frizzy hair. All you need to create this look are your fingers, a blow dryer and some professional styling products.

First, wash and condition your hair, using products that are designed for your hair type and texture. When creating a wavy look, do not use lotions that make your hair softer and smoother. However, you should use a volumizer while washing your hair, this will enhance the ability to keep a wavy look all day. Ask your hair stylist or a product expert at your local salon for a volumizer that will work with your hair type.

Next, rinse out your hair with cold water to ensure the long-lasting effects of the waves. Rinsing with cold water will also boost the effect of the volumizer. After you dry your hair with a towel apply hair styling products such as volume serums, sprays and mousse, this will enhance the wavy look. Don’t exaggerate with product, this will only weight down your hair.

Now, separate your hair into sections. Start from one side of the head and go through all the strands, scrunching each section. Do this by squeezing your hair in your palm and use your fingers to create the curly effect. Do this several times with the same strand in order to accentuate the volume. Crumple the tips towards the roots with a constant movement.

You should also use a blow-dryer to simultaneously dry the hair and secure this effect. Blow dry strands when you have strands in your fingers and pushed towards the roots. By scrunching the hair to your roots and blow-drying at the same time, wavy curls will form.

If you want big or voluminous hair, you should scrunch smaller sections at a time. Also, if you want to add volume to your hairstyle overall, target the sections around the crown area. Experiment with larger or smaller sections to get the look you want to achieve.
