Scrunching Your Hair

Scrunching your hair can be a fun new way to create volume. Scrunching is the best method for wavy, voluminous strands while avoiding frizzy hair. All you need to create this look are your fingers, a blow dryer and some professional styling products.
First, wash and condition your hair, using products that are designed for your hair type and texture. When creating a wavy look, do not use lotions that make your hair softer and smoother. However, you should use a volumizer while washing your hair, this will enhance the ability to keep a wavy look all day. Ask your hair stylist or a product expert at your local salon for a volumizer that will work with your hair type.
Next, rinse out your hair with cold water to ensure the long-lasting effects of the waves. Rinsing with cold water will also boost the effect of the volumizer. After you dry your hair with a towel apply hair styling products such as volume serums, sprays and mousse, this will enhance the wavy look. Don’t exaggerate with product, this will only weight down your hair.
Now, separate your hair into sections. Start from one side of the head and go through all the strands, scrunching each section. Do this by squeezing your hair in your palm and use your fingers to create the curly effect. Do this several times with the same strand in order to accentuate the volume. Crumple the tips towards the roots with a constant movement.
You should also use a blow-dryer to simultaneously dry the hair and secure this effect. Blow dry strands when you have strands in your fingers and pushed towards the roots. By scrunching the hair to your roots and blow-drying at the same time, wavy curls will form.
If you want big or voluminous hair, you should scrunch smaller sections at a time. Also, if you want to add volume to your hairstyle overall, target the sections around the crown area. Experiment with larger or smaller sections to get the look you want to achieve.
Curling Irons vs. Hot Rollers

Curling irons and hot rollers are two great products in achieving the curls you want. They both have their pros and cons and different looks can be achieved with both. So which ones right for your hair type and the look you want to attain? These tips will allow you to decide what product will work better for you. If you have never done either, it might be a good idea to try both, and then decide what results fit your style.
Curling Iron:
Pros:
- Inexpensive and easy to use
- It only takes a few minutes to heat up
- Great for quick touch-ups
- Allows you to create a partial head of curly locks or a full head of curls
- It is versatile enough to curl precisely the strands of hair you want curled
- Allows you to customize your curls, with loose and spiral curls, tight ringlets or somewhere in between
- You can create looks with just the ends of your hair by flipping the hair under or out.
Cons:
- If you want to achieve a full head of curls, it may take you up to an hour or more depending on your hair type.
- Thick hair takes more time, as with long hair.
Hot Rollers:
Pros:
- You can achieve a full head of flawless curls in under an hour ( 10min to warm up, 10-20min to apply and 15min to set)
- The rollers will turn colors when they are hot, and when they are cooled and ready to take out of your head.
- You don’t have to decide which way you want the curl to spiral, once you have put the curlers in your hair they will curl simultaneously.
- Curls from hot rollers will hold the curls longer than a curling iron
Cons:
- These may be a bit more expensive than a curling iron.
- Rollers will not curl your ends out or under like a curling iron will
Frustrating Bangs

A Quick Fix for Frustrating Bangs
You know when you walk out of your hairstylists salon your bangs are perfect, but then when you try to do them yourself you can’t? Maybe they are side-angled, straight-layered or long, or maybe you have a cowlick in the middle that never straightens out? Well, whatever it is you just can’t get them to look right. We’ve all been there and it’s frustrating. Here are some tips that let you get the same bangs you did when you walked out of your hair salon.
- Blow-dry your bangs towards the front of your face. If you are using a round brush, blow the hair with the blow-dryer on it from root to end. If you then blow-dry your sides towards the same direction when you lift your head and part towards the side or near center, your bump in the front is gone. Then you can use a straightener for even straighter lasting results.
- After blow-drying your hair put a Velcro roller in the front with another one behind it. Spray with a light hairspray and leave in while you apply your make up. Take out the rollers and brush to your desired style; until you get the bangs you like.
- If these two have your patience wearing thin, purchase a straightener to get your finished look. Just remember straighteners cause a lot of damage to your hair so use conditioner every time you wash it while using a straighter for a finished bang.
- To finish the look, apply a light wax or shine to keep your hair in place all day long. Then lightly finish with a hairspray.
The Best Hairdo For Your Face

There are many, many types of hairstyles out there, but not all will look good on you unless the hairstyle fits the shape of your face. Below are the different hairstyles that are considered most flattering for each shape of face.
An oval face. The oval face is the perfect face. Almost any hairstyle will go with it, whether it is long or short, straight or curly. If you have an oval face, you will do well with having layers near your chin or cheekbones to draw attention to them. However, try to avoid hairstyles that add volumes to the top of your head it will make your face look longer.
A long face. If you have a long or oblong face, you should create the illusion of width to balance it out. You can add width to your face by doing your hair with long, side-swept bangs or chin-length bobs. You will also do well with curls and waves that frame the face.
If you have a long or oblong face, you should avoid letting your hair grow extremely long or having your hair cut extremely short. Such extreme hairstyles will take the width from your face and emphasize its length.
A round face. If people with long faces need to add width to their faces, people with round faces need to take some of the width and bulk off by adding length. If your face is round you need to create the illusion of length, and to do this, you can have your hair cut just below your chin, or in graduated layers. Do not do your hair in short, one-length, blunt cuts, as it will only draw attention to the roundness of your face.
A square face. Having a square face means having an angular jaw. The hairstyle trick with having a square face is drawing attention away from that jaw. This is done by putting texture to your hair. Short curls do exactly this, as well as long layers that start just below the jawline. If your face has a square shape, you should try not to have your hair cut in one-length bobs or wear bangs that are cut bluntly. It will only emphasize the squareness of your face.
A heart-shaped face. Heart-shaped faces are pretty Valentines, but the pointed chin draws attention away from the eyes. If you have a heart-shaped face, you could bring focus to your eyes by wearing side-swept bangs, a fringe on your brow or long layers at the top. Or you could let your hair grow and have it done with layers that touch your cheekbones.
